"The Kentucky Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy is considering discontinuing wallet cards for licensees. This is being considered for several reasons. One is that all Boards and State Government agencies have been asked to cut their spending 1.5% again this year. Another important reason is that the wallet cards are not the "official" verification of a license being current and in good standing. The official verification comes from the board's website. Once a card has been printed a license can be terminated, disciplinary action can be taken, it can be placed on probation, suspended or revoked. Any of these actions shows up on the website immediately upon the changed being made in our database. So, in essence, a wallet card is outdated the moment it is printed. They are also easily reproduced."

Just a quick note regarding the voting and results for the LMT Wallet Card. First, I want to thank everyone that voted anonymously (results shown at the bottom of the web site over the past few weeks) and those that sent me personal emails (both voting and their comments). Between the on-line voting and the voting and comments emailed, we received just over 200 votes to keep the cards and slightly more than 50 votes to discontinue the cards. All of your comments were carefully cut and pasted, (all names and ID’s were deleted) into one word document that I created and forward to Katie Stewart to send to the KBLMT Board. The KBLMT did receive AMTA’s comments both for keeping and discontinuing the wallet cards at the KBLMT Monthly meeting on Monday, Nov 14, 2011. Due to the numerous replies, the KBLMT decided to not make a hasty decision but more so to review all the comments and make a final decision at their December 12, 20011 monthly Board meeting.
Thank you again for your time and interest with this part of our business.
